The entity ORIFLAMA S.A. created in July 2001 has the principal objective of rescue the remains of the line vessel, Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo y San Leopoldo, nicknamed as El Oriflama. ORIFLAMA S.A., has a team of multidisciplinary specialists and it is related with a group of institutions and sponsors to the realization of the project. Like: History faculty of Universidad Marítima de Viña del Mar, Chile; Naval and Maritime history Academy of Chile and the Cuban entity CARISUB S.A. which has an Archeology Direction that counts with an investigation department, a laboratory specialized in conservation of the collected artifacts in marine means and important collections with reference of 21 years of labor in this issue. It is related with the Archeology Department of the Anthropology Center of the Science, Technology and Environment Ministry (CITMA) and the Archeology Study of the Habana City Historian office. Universidad Católica del Norte (Coquimbo, Chile) has realized the preliminary study of environment impact and granularity and it will realized this investigation during all the excavation process, under the title of Characterization of coastal macroinfauna of Huenchullami area. |

We are sure that the finding of the Oriflama is a matter of time. The historical investigation has been exhaustive, we have access to prospecting equipments of last generation and our faith and dedication to the project is complete. We know that the discovering of the vessel remains will be the easiest stage of the project, the most difficult work will come when the excavation stage begins. We think that we are in front of a worldwide kind of discovering, and we will be the center of the attention of the national and international academic community. We are aware of our responsibility in front of the future generations regarding to the registry of the information, documentation and conservation of the vessel and its cargo. Because of these reasons we assume the compromise of all the excavation and conservation process will be done according to the highest international standards. That we will make a multidisciplinary team, created with specialist of every one of the important topics of the project. That we will be inventive, in the sense of incorporate the last advances that the information technology grants us to the handle of the big amount of data product of the excavation process. That we will use proved and trustful conservation techniques. We think that the community in general will be benefited through several instances. For one part it is contemplated the creation of a museum in the locality of La Trinchera, as well as the donation of a representative collection to the room of Chilean Army naval museum. We have hope that this project, that we began some years ago, will have a happy ending with the consequential benefits to the sciences, arts and culture of Chile and the humanity.
